Several PPVs in Klang Valley to be closed in stages

KUALA LUMPUR: Several vaccination centres (PPV) in the Klang Valley will be closed in stages as the region inches closer to achieving its Covid-19 immunisation target.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the health ministry and private medical practitioners will now do the necessary to cater to future needs of Covid-19 vaccinations for new registrants, young people and for potential booster doses should the need arise.

"ProtectHealth through private medical practitioners has performed an outstanding job in assisting the government achieve vaccination targets in Selangor and the Klang Valley.

"Moving forward we will be gradually closing down the PPVs.

"The health ministry with private medical practitioners will do the mopping up and for the future needs which will arise from newly eligible recipients, new registrants in MySejahtera, the 12-17-year-olds and the potential booster dose," he tweeted.

ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd is a non-profit company under the Health Ministry established to coordinate, administer and manage initiatives related to the financing of health services as entrusted by the government.

As of yesterday, the entire adult population in the Klang Valley had received at least their first dose while 81.3 percent have completed both doses.

Of the total vaccines administered in the Klang Valley, 6,641,887 individuals have received their first dose, while another 5,014,230 have completed two doses.
