Self-discipline in Covid-19 patients crucial to curb BID cases

KUALA LUMPUR: Covid-19 patients undergoing quarantine at home must never fail to monitor their health progress and report signs of worsening conditions.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this was important to curb the rise in brought-in-dead (BID) cases, as the government continues its focus on ramping up testing and vaccination of the people.

Khairy said those undergoing home quarantine should be disciplined in monitoring their daily health progress and look out for signs of worsening health conditions.

"Some of the BID cases were initially in Category 1 and 2, but somehow within a short period of time, they in Category 5.

"It is crucial for those undergoing self-quarantine to look out for warning signs such as prolonged fever, breathing difficulties, changes in mental state such as confusion, having cough and vomiting, as well as oxygen saturation below than 95 per cent.

"Seek urgent medical treatment, should you started showing the signs," he said during his first press conference since taking over the portfolio.

Khairy also urged family members to monitor the conditions of the patients regularly.

"Please check on them," he said.

Also at the press conference was health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and his deputy Datuk Dr Chong Chee Keong.
