KUALA LUMPUR: Interstate travel restrictions will be lifted within the next few days, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In view of this, he reminded everyone to continue complying with the standard operating procedures after interstate travel is allowed.
He tweeted: "In next couple of days interstate travel restrictions will be lifted. It's important to take all precautions like wearing a mask, washing your hands and physical distancing even for those vaccinated.
"In keeping your loved ones and family safe, please do periodic saliva RTK Ag self-testing," he said.
The government had earlier announced that the interstate travel restriction ban would be lifted when 90 per cent of the adult population are fully vaccinated.
As of 11.59pm yesterday, 88.8 per cent of the adult population had received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Yesterday, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said as the nation transitioned into endemicity, it would now depend on personal responsibility and behaviour in ensuring a safe reopening.
"1.6 per cent before interstate borders open. While @KKMPutrajaya has transitioned to symptomatic testing, we encourage people who are in high contact and mobility settings to test regularly. If you want to balik kampung to see elderly parents, do a RTK saliva test. Keep them safe.
"As we transition towards endemicity, we cannot police things anymore i.e. set up roadblocks to see if you have been fully vaccinated or tested. Much will now depend on personal responsibility and behaviour. I believe we can rise to the challenge in #ReopeningSafely," he tweeted.
