MUAR: Flash floods hit several areas here following a two-hour heavy downpour from 2pm today.
Among the affected areas were Jalan Ismail, Jalan Haji Jaib, Kampung Kelantan, Kampung Sabak Awor, Kampung Dato Sri Amar, Taman Temiang and Jalan Bakariah.
A Muar District Disaster Management Committee spokesman said some homes were inundated in 0.3m-deep waters. No casualties were reported.
"The Tanjung Agas station measured the rainfall at 119mm since 2pm, and this led to flash floods in low-lying areas in Muar.
"Residents in low-lying areas who were affected by the floods were relocated to safety. The flood has since receded, and relevant agencies are still monitoring the situation," said the spokesman in a statement today.
He said no temporary relief centres were opened as the weather had improved.
