Sarawak polls: PBK claims candidates being harassed

KUCHING: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) claims party candidates, contesting the 12th Sarawak Election, were being harassed as polling day gets closer.

Its president Voon Lee Shan described the alleged harassment as blatant attempts to stop PBK from winning the polls which has been fixed for polling this Saturday.

"There are many candidates up against PBK and (our) candidates.

"I do not know why? (But) we are all peace loving citizens of Sarawak. I do not know who is behind this but we can only guess.

"Things are getting hotter at the moment," said Voon in clip that was shared on his Facebook.

Voon is also the party's candidate for the Batu Lintang state seat.

Earlier in a separate clip, Voon claimed PBK's candidate contesting the Gedong state seat has been summoned by the police.

Voon said he received a called from Tomson Ango that the latter had been summoned by the Special Branch Unit to have his statements taken.

"He said he had been called by the Special Branch. If the call was made by the Special Branch, it means that it is for 'risikan' (intelligence gathering).

"This is nothing related to crime. If it was for a criminal case, he would be summoned by the CID (Crime Investigation Department).

"Why he is being called by the Special Branch to come to the station at noon?

"I was worried especially since lately, all that have been summoned (by the authorities) are candidates from PBK," Voon claimed in the clip.

Voon also asked why the candidates are being called today since polling day for the Sarawak election is near.

"I do not know why they are calling Thomson Ango now," he said.

Tomson is facing a four-cornered fight in Gedong for the polls.

Among the candidates contesting the seat are Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.
