Jobless man nabbed on suspicion of decapitating own mother [NSTTV]

SHAH ALAM: A jobless man was detained on suspicion of decapitating his mother in an incident at Kampung Baru Pasir Penambang, near Kuala Selangor yesterday.

Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Ramli Kasas said they received information about a 28-year-old who had injured his 56-year-old mother at 5.45pm.

When policemen arrived at the house, they found the body of a woman in the living room and blood stains in the house.

"The incident had come to light when one of the victim's child had gone to the house after they were unable to reach her. Upon arriving at the house, they found blood in the house and the suspect who was startled by the presence of one of his siblings then ran towards the bushes behind the house," he said in a statement today.

With the help of villagers, police later detained the suspect.

According to Ramli, police seized a machete believed to be the murder weapon, which was found in the bathroom of the house.

He said the suspect was staying with his parents while his other siblings were living nearby.

"Initial urine test on the suspect at the Tanjong Karang Hospital returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine," he said.

The suspect has been remanded until Jan 22 to assist in investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.--BERNAMA
