Perform Covid-19 TRIIS pre- and post-travel, after attending gatherings

ALOR STAR: Have you developed any Covid-19 symptoms after coming back from interstate travel or attending any gathering recently?

If the answer is yes, then you should carry out the Covid-19 self-test immediately and practice TRISS (Test, Report, Isolate, Inform and Seek).

That is the advice from Kedah Health director Dr Othman Warijo in wake of the recent spike of Covid-19 cases in the state.

"We wish to advise those who recently travelled interstate, those who just returned from holiday or attended any gathering to perform TRIIS if they develop any Covid-19 related symptoms.

"Those who are leaving for interstate travel are also advised to perform Covid-19 self-test before travelling to avoid spreading the virus," he told the New Straits Times.

Yesterday, Kedah reported 486 new Covid-19 infection cases, 10 of which were imported cases, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 3,718.

Kedah recorded an infectivity rate (Rt) of 1.16, higher than the country's Rt of 1.11 recorded yesterday while its neighbouring state Perlis, recorded the highest Rt value nationwide with 1.24.

Two more deaths were reported in Kedah yesterday, making the total number of Covid-19 fatality cases 18 for the past two weeks.

Dr Othman also advised the public to continue observing health protocols such as the 3Ws (washing hands regularly, wearing a facemask and practising physical distancing) as well as avoiding the 3Cs (crowded place, confined area and close physical contact).

He also advised the eligible adult population to get their Covid-19 booster shot, following the spread of Covid-19 variants such as Delta and Omicron.
