13 injured in 5 vehicle pile up on NSE

SLIM RIVER: 13 people were injured in an accident involving five vehicles at KM357 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) southbound, here, last night.

The 11.50pm accident involved a Proton Perdana, a Perodua Bezza, a Proton Wira, an Audi and a Honda.

A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said the department received an emergency call at 11.53pm and a team of firemen from Slim River was dispatched to the scene.

"There were 13 victims involving five vehicles involved in this accident. Due to the strong impact, two of the cars turned turtle but all the victims managed to get out of their vehicles.

"Some of them were also assisted by highway users. The firemen gave early treatment to the passengers and driver of the Proton Wira before taking them to the Slim River Hospital.

"Other victims who suffered light injuries to their bodies were also rushed to the same hospital for further treatment," he said adding that the operation ended at 12.40am.

He added that all victims were reported to be stable and some of them received outpatient treatment.
