Motorcyclist thrown off bike as Singapore-registered vehicle abruptly turns into emergency lane at NSE

BATU PAHAT: A motorcyclist was thrown off his machine, when a Singapore-registered vehicle driver abruptly changed lanes to the emergency lane without signalling at KM 123.2 of the North-South Expressway, today.

However, at press time the motorcyclist has yet to lodge a report, and police are urging the victim to do so immediately.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said the incident occurred at 1.45pm, and the 52-year-old Singaporean man filed a police report at the Yong Peng station some three hours later.

The three-second dashcam footage, recorded the driver of the blue Singapore-registered Citroen stopping behind an express bus along the highway.

Instead of waiting for the bus driver to move forward, the Citroen driver abruptly turned to the left into emergency lane, without applying his indicator, nor checking for oncoming vehicles.

At the same time, a motorist was recorded traveling along the emergency lane, and in the split second the Citroen driver dangerously veered into the emergency lane, the motorcyclist crashed into it.

The incident gained traction on social media platforms,after it was uploaded on Facebook, through the group page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/malaysia.singapore.border.crossers/perma....

It drew numerous negative comments against the Singaporean driver.
