2,302 new cases, 2,539 recoveries on Saturday

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry recorded 2,302 new Covid-19 cases and 2,539 recoveries, nationwide, on Saturday (June 25).

The ministry's data-sharing website CovidNow reported that currently, the total count for Covid-19 infections stood at 4,554,661 cases and 4,490,906 recoveries cumulatively.

Of the total fresh infections, two were imported cases.

Selangor and Kuala Lumpur reported the highest new cases with 667 and 664 respectively, followed by 192 in Sabah, 173 in Penang, 167 in Negri Sembilan, 129 in Perak, 68 in Melaka, 55 in Johor, 45 in Putrajaya, 39 in Pahang, 36 in Sarawak, 24 in Kedah, 18 in Terengganu and 11 in Kelantan.

Perlis and Labuan reported 10 and four cases each.

There were no deaths reported on Saturday, with the country's current cumulative death toll at 35,745.

At the moment, Covid-19 active cases nationwide stood at 28,010.

According to the portal, 38,136 Covid-19 tests were conducted yesterday, with 5.7 per cent positivity rate returns.

As of yesterday, 96.1 per cent, or 26,929 individuals, were placed under home quarantine, 3.7 per cent or 1,034 patients hospitalised and 0.1 per cent, equivalent to 18 patients ventilated and treated in the intensive care units (ICU).

There are also 13 Covid-19 patients currently receiving treatment in ICUs but not ventilated.

The remaining 0.1 per cent or 16 patients have been placed at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Currently, some 65.2 per cent of hospital beds nationwide are occupied, while 61.4 per cent of ICU beds, 37 per cent of ventilators and 16.1 per cent of PKRC beds are being utilised for Covid-19 treatment purposes.

Meanwhile, 1,337,102 children aged five to 11 have been fully vaccinated under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids).

According to the portal, another 1,744,485 children have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

As for adolescents aged 12 to 17, a total of 2,910,021 have received two doses and 2,998,844 have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

As for the adults, 16,137,205 or 68.6 per cent have received their booster dose as of yesterday; 23,012,251 have received two vaccine doses, with another 23,289,632 having received at least one dose.

Yesterday,10,645 vaccine doses were administered, with 848 as the first dose, 9,113 for second dose and 684 as booster doses, bringing the total number of vaccine doses administered under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme to 71,214,563.
