Woman burnt to death following crash in Limbang

LIMBANG: A woman was killed when the Proton Saga she was driving caught fire after colliding with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle in Jalan Nanga Medamit here this morning.

A Sarawak Fire Operations Centre spokesman, in a statement today, said it received a call on the incident at 9am and a rescue team from the Limbang fire station team was despatched to the scene.

"When the team arrived, it found a car burning on the road, and the 4WD had skidded and turned on its side by the shoulder," he said.

After the fire was brought under control, he said, the firefighters inspected the car and found a victim who was burnt in the front driver's seat.

The deceased was identified as Dorris Serudin, 55, from Kampung Long Beti, Medamit.

The injured 4WD driver was extricated from his vehicle by members of the public and was taken to Limbang Hospital.

"The victim's body was handed over to the police and sent to the Limbang Hospital's Forensic Unit for post-mortem examination," the spokesman said.
