Daily Covid-19 cases continue to decline

KUALA LUMPUR: Daily Covid-19 cases continue to decline with 1,946 infections recorded on Monday, marking a slight drop from 2,191 reported to the Health Ministry (MoH) on Sunday.

There were 673 new cases in Selangor, 246 in Kuala Lumpur, 180 in Sabah, 139 in Perak, 99 in Kelantan, 86 in Kedah, 85 each in Johor and Melaka, 83 in Negri Sembilan, 72 in Penang, 54 in Terengganu, 53 in Sarawak, 45 in Pahang, 39 in Putrajaya, and seven in Perlis.

Recoveries continue to outnumber new cases with 3,271 recorded yesterday. Active cases are at 31,568.

A total of 30,568 Covid-19 patients are undergoing home quarantine, 1,312 are being treated at hospitals, 75 are warded at intensive care units (ICU) and the remaining 18 have been isolated at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC) nationwide.

There were 431 Covid-19 patients admitted to hospitals yesterday, a slight increase from 368 on Sunday.

Also reported to the MoH were eight deaths - four each in Johor and Selangor. None of the fatalities were brought-in-dead cases.

As of Monday, 4,778,140 people in Malaysia had been infected since the pandemic broke.

The number of Covid-19 related fatalities is now at 36,206.
