Pahang unity gov must work together to help state, people prosper, reminds MB Wan Rosdy after announcing exco portfolios

KUANTAN: The new Pahang unity government executive council members have been reminded to set aside their political differences and work as a team to prioritise towards developing the state, and people's wellbeing.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who earlier announced the portfolios of the exco members, said it was time for them to work together to execute their responsibilities to ensure Pahang continues to prosper.

"All the exco members should put aside political sentiments, ideological differences and go on to firmly work as a team to ensure the agendas for state's development agendas people's wellbeing can be successfully implemented. Execute duties diligently and with integrity.

"I hope the people in Pahang will give their trust and support to the newly formed state government for the sake of stability and prosperity. It is time for us to open a new chapter by being politically mature and celebrate our diversity as we consist of various races, and allow us to live together in harmony," he told reporters after announcing the exco member portfolios at Wisma Sri Pahang here today.

Wan Rosdy, who was appointed as the menteri besar for the second term, said he hoped the newly-appointed exco members would adapt to their newly-handed responsibilities fast.

"Discussions will be held during the weekly exco meetings and their performance will be monitored. The exco members have been handed their respective tasks and they will have to go down to work.

"They will be facing the people in the next four or five years(general elections) so if we fail to fulfil our (exco members) duties then how are we going to meet the people," he said.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy said the Pahang state assembly sitting for the new term will convene on Dec 29 at Wisma Sri Pahang to appoint the new state assembly speaker and deputy.

The state exco line-up, comprising Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan in Pahang, consists of nine assemblymen from Umno including Wan Rosdy and one each from DAP and PKR. The new state executive councillors are:

1. Wan Rosdy (Planning, Finance, Land, Natural Resources, Energy and Water, Economic Development, Plantation and Commodities)

2. Datuk Seri Ir Mohd Soffi Abd Razak (Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Biotechnology and Education)

3. Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad (Islamic Religious Affairs, Rural Development and Orang Asli Affairs)

4. Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff (Public Works, Transport and Health)

5. Razali Kassim (Felda Affairs, Cooperatives and Entrepreneurs)

6. Datuk Seri Johari Harun (Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology)

7. Datuk Nizar Mohd Najib (Investment, Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation)

8. Datuk Sabariah Saidan (Social Welfare, Women and Family Development)

9. Fadzli Mohamad Kamal. (Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-governmental Organisations)

10. Sim Chon Siang (Consumer Affairs and Human Resources)

11. Leong Yu Man (Unity, Tourism and Culture)
