Decomposing body found inside luggage bag in Kulai

KULAI: The decomposing body of a woman was found inside a luggage bag at a kiosk of an abandoned bus station here on Wednesday.

Kulai police chief Superintendent Tok Beng Yeow said the remains were confirmed to be that of a woman aged about 25 and was believed to have been dead for about two week.

"A postmortem by a pathologist from Sultanah Aminah Hospital's forensic medicine department found an injury under the skin of the skull. We are waiting for the results of a laboratory investigation to identify the cause of death," he said in a statement.

Tok said police received a report regarding the discovery of the body near the Kulai Municipal Council bus station at 1.50pm on Wednesday.

He said initial investigations found it difficult to justify the body's gender, age and time of death.

"The body was 50 per cent decomposed and it was covered with maggots. The body was sent to HSA for a postmortem," Tok said.

He said the case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

He urged anybody who with information regarding the case to come forward to help in the investigation.
