Elmina plane crash: 'I heard the scream of 'Allahu Akbar'... but could not do anything' - Witness

SHAH ALAM: A witness said he could only look on helplessly at a man who was caught on fire when an aircraft crashed into the man.

"I heard the scream of `Allahu Akbar (God is greater)' several times from the motorcyclist who was on fire and was seen moving a little.

"But, I could not do anything because the fire was so intense," said the witness, who wanted to be known as Ihsan, 37.

The Air Selangor employee who saw the plane crash near the Elmina residential area at Section U16 said he was doing his rounds on his motorcycle reading water meters nearby when he heard the loud bang behind him.

"I turned around and saw the smoke and made a U-turn. That's when I saw the motorcyclist screaming `Allahu Akhbar' and moving a little before he collapsed in the fire," he told Harian Metro.

Ihsan said he also saw a charred body outside the burning wreckage.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported another witness, Nur Alia Nordin, 28 said she was in her house in Kampung Kubu Gajah when she heard a deafening explosion and rushed out to see what has caused it.

"I saw thick black smoke bellowing from the area, about three kilometres (km) from my house and I went there as quickly as I could.

"As soon as I got there, I saw a motorcycle and a plane on fire," she told Bernama at the location of the crash.
