PN states consider different logos and themes for Merdeka celebrations

KUALA LUMPUR: The four states under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government may use different National Day logos and themes for state-level celebrations instead of those announced at the federal level.

PN Youth leader Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, which the party rules, would likely use the alternative logo and theme launched by PN Youth today.

He said the PN Youth's logo depicts the hibiscus flower with five petals which is the national flower, taking the colours found in the Jalur Gemilang with the theme of 'Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera' (Strong Consensus for a Prosperous Malaysia).

"This logo is for PN's official celebration of the National Day, which we will use during the PN leadership speech, especially at the Youth level and parties under PN.

"We also do not rule out the possibility that the state government under PN will use the same theme. But, I cannot speak on behalf of the state government.

"On behalf of the PN Youth, we will try to meet the state government because they must have their preparations.

"If it is not too late, we do not rule out the possibility of us meeting the PN-ruled state governments to use the same theme and logo (for the state-level National Day celebrations)," he said at the press conference to launch the PN Youth Level National Day Logo and Theme at the Pas headquarters here, today.

Earlier, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced 'Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan' as the theme of National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2023.

Fahmi also added that the Malaysia Madani logo was adopted as the official logo for the HKHM 2023 celebration consisting of a unique and symbolic logo design showing raised hands to recite the Rukun Negara pledge.

When asked if the act of using a different logo and theme would be seen as an act of politicising the National Day celebration, Ahmad Fadhli was confident that the people could accept it.

"The people can accept it, which is reflected in the results of the recent state elections that the people can accept political moves from the PN," he said.
