Unhealthy API readings in 7 locations, mainly in Klang Valley and Seremban

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven locations across the country continue to record unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings as of 10 am today, mainly in the Klang Valley and Seremban areas.

A check on the Department of Environment's (DoE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) website shows that Nilai has the highest reading of 157, followed closely by Cheras at 155 and Seremban at 149.

APIMS measures the API readings between 0 and 50 as good, 51 and 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy and any readings of 300 and above are declared as hazardous.

Shah Alam's reading showed a spike in the past hour from 99 to 116.

Port Dickson recorded a slight increase from 99 to 101, while Petaling Jaya recorded a reading of 117, and Banting 125.

It is worth noting that Batu Muda, Putrajaya, Klang, Alor Gajah, Batu Pahat, and Larkin are also showing readings above 90.

Meanwhile, only three areas in the country are showing readings below 50.

Malaysia is suffering from the haze due to the re-emergence of transboundary haze pollution from Indonesia.
