Air quality readings: Three areas in Johor record unhealthy API

KUALA LUMPUR: Three areas in Johor, namely Larkin, Pasir Gudang and Batu Pahat recorded an unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) readings this morning.

As of 9am today, the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) recorded Larkin with the highest API reading of 156 followed by Pasir Gudang (152) and Batu Pahat (122).

APIMS measures the API readings between 0 and 50 as good, 51 and 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and any readings of 300 and above are declared hazardous.

Meanwhile, 54 stations across the country recorded moderate API readings.

Among the areas that are at this level are Banting in Selangor with a reading of 90, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (87), Alor Gajah, Melaka (85), Tanjung Malim, Perak (60), Kemaman, Terengganu (74), Alor Setar, Kedah (53), Sri Aman, Sarawak (67) and Tawau, Sabah (66).

11 areas across the country recorded good API levels including Taiping in Perak with a reading of 44, Kangar, Perlis (49), Sungai Petani, Kedah (37) and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (45).
