Woman reported missing found dead in car at rest stop

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman who was reported missing by her family was found dead in a car in the parking area of the Sungai Buloh rest stop, northbound, near here, yesterday.

The police received a report about the discovery of an unconscious woman in a car through the MERS999 call at around 10.50am on Oct 27.

Petaling Jaya district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, said a team from the Kota Damansara police station was dispatched for inspection, and the police found a woman unconscious in a locked car.

"The victim, a 30-year-old local, was reported missing from her residence in Taman Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. The report was made by her family yesterday," he said in a statement today.

Fakhrudin said the police discovered a pot filled with burnt charcoal in the car.

He added that the victim's body was taken to the Sungai Buloh Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

He urged anyone with information about the incident or who knows the victim to come forward and assist police by contacting the Kota Damansara police station at 03-61421222.
