Part of SM Munshi Abdullah roof blown off in storm [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A school in Batu Berendam, Melaka suffered significant damage due to strong winds and heavy rainfall today.

Videos and photos shared by a Facebook user Norlin Alias showed strong winds lifting off huge chunks of Sekolah Menengah Munshi Abdullah's roof.

"May Allah ease everything. Let's all pray for Sekolah Menengah Munshi Abdullah. On Monday, the Form 5 students will start their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia trial exams," she wrote.

She also uploaded a video that showed shattered sections of the roof being carried by the wind and landing haphazardly, along with the broken asbestos ceiling.

The state Fire and Rescue Department confirmed receiving a call about 4pm today on the incident.

Six officers were dispatched to the location, no casualty was reported.

"The school's roof had been blown off due to the storm.

"The operation commander monitored the surroundings, and upon confirming that there were no further hazards or risks, the team made their way back to base," the department said.
