AI radio DJ appointed as Calpis brand ambassador

KUALA LUMPUR: Calpis, Japan's cultured milk drink, has appointed artificial intelligence (AI) radio DJ Aina Sabrina as its newest brand ambassador. 

Aina is Malaysia's first AI radio DJ, the result of a collaboration between Calpis and radio station Fly FM, and developed by Fly FM's in-house team of production engineers. 

Equipped with a vast music database, Aina can create and mix music in real time to adapt to her listeners' moods. 

She also offers personalised music recommendations based on individual preferences. 

Aina's radio segment airs from 2pm to 4pm every weekday on Fly FM. 

She also hosts the AI Song Contest every Thursday, where listeners compete to guess the singer of a song to win RM150 and Calpis products. 

In celebration of Aina's recent appointment as its brand ambassador, Calpis has launched a new Calpis Chewy Grape flavour.

This new variant represents the bright and playful side of Aina, as well as her love for everything Japanese. 

It also aims to bring out double the fun and excitement as listeners engage with the AI radio DJ every afternoon. 

Etika vice president of marketing Amy Gan said: "Calpis has always been at the forefront of innovation. 

"Calpis Chewy with Nata de Coco bits, was a first-of-its-kind innovation to the cultured milk category when it was introduced last year, and it has received an overwhelming response from our valued customers. Now, we are excited to take innovation to the next level by introducing the third flavour of Calpis Chewy." 

She added that Aina represents a revolutionary approach to brand representation — Calpis is the first in the industry to embrace an AI ambassador as the face of its brand. 

Aina is also a dynamic AI personality who embodies innovation and the spirit of fun.

"She is not just a virtual presence; she is a symbol of our commitment to redefining the way she interacts with our audience.

"With Aina, Calpis Chewy is pioneering a fresh way of engaging with our customers. She will be the voice and personality that represents our brand, bringing a sense of excitement and curiosity to our product." 

Fly FM content director Sean Matjeraie said: "With the introduction of an AI radio DJ, we are extremely excited to introduce a brand new phase of the Malaysian radio industry, and Aina is the definition of this. 

"As always at Media Prima Audio, we are redefining radio." 

Calpis was also recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for becoming the first AI brand ambassador. 

The record title was presented to Gan by the Malaysia Book of Records chief operating officer and official adjudicator Christopher Wong. 

The Calpis Chewy Grape variant is available at convenience stores and supermarkets.
