Japan wants immediate action to end Israel-Palestine conflict

KUALA LUMPUR: Japan has called for immediate action in accordance with the international law to put an end to the conflict between Palestine and Israel.

Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stressed that such a commitment is important to prevent the on-going crisis from spilling over to other countries.

"I explained the position of Japan and conveyed that it is important for all direct parties to act in accordance with international law, preventing the spillover to neighbouring countries and de-escalating the situation quickly and especially at this moment, improving the humanitarian situation in Gaza," he said, in a joint press conference with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Both leaders had a lengthy meeting to discuss bilateral relations, especially in the fields of trade and investment, education, defence, environment and energy security, as well as information and communication.

Anwar commended Kishida for his support for peace and the dire need for humanitarian assistance in Gaza.

"Although there is a difference in emphasis, but I must commend Prime Minister Kishida for his commitment first against the settlements by Israelis into Palestine.

"Secondly, for his support so that there is peace in the region and total humanitarian assistance in Gaza because the bombs into Gaza because the bombs into Gaza has exceeded the extent of the damage compared to Hiroshima during World War 2," he said.
