Johor Exco: Over RM700,000 collected for Palestinian Humanitarian Fund

JOHOR BARU: A total of RM796,184.75 was successfully collected through the Tabung Khas Kemanusiaan Rakyat Palestin fund organised by the state government through the Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ).

State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman, Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid, said the fund collection was carried out by all the mosques and suraus in the state from October 27 to November 3.

"A sum of RM607,304.55 was obtained from mosques, while RM188,880.20 was collected from surau throughout Johor.

"The JAINJ Islamic Education Division also made collections through the District Islamic Education Office, and it is estimated that RM200,000 will be received.

"These contributions have been directly channelled to the Humanitarian Trust Fund for the People of Palestine under the Foreign Ministry," he said in a statement today (November 9).

To encourage the Muslim community to continue donating, Mohd Fared said JAINJ has extended the collection period from November 10 to 17.

"It is hoped that these contributions can help alleviate the burden of the people in Palestine.

"We have also instructed all mosques and surau to recite Qunut Nazilah in the five daily prayers, as well as Friday prayers, and to perform the solat hajat (prayer of need) after the Maghrib prayer to seek an end to the wars, difficulties and hardships faced by the Palestinians," he said. – BERNAMA
