Parliament launches Palestinian Humanitarian Fund

KUALA LUMPUR: The Parliament launched the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund in an effort to alleviate the burdens and sufferings of those affected by the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said the contribution will be directly channelled to the Humanitarian Trust Fund for the People of Palestine under the supervision of the Foreign Ministry.

"The Malaysian Parliament has been convened to join efforts in alleviating the burden on the Palestinian people who are increasingly pressed due to the ongoing conflict and to demonstrate moral support for their plight.

"The Malaysian Parliament will initiate the collection for the Palestinian Humanitarian Fund starting today (Nov 9).

"Special collection boxes for this purpose will be placed at the left and right entrances (of the house)," he said.

The recent clashes in Palestine involving Hamas, the ruling authority in Gaza, and the Israeli regime have resulted in the loss of thousands of lives on both sides since Oct 7.
