'It's me but it's not my voice', Dr Mohammad Agus says viral video audio manipulated [WATCH]

BANGI: Under fire former Community Communications (J-KOM) Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff said that it was not his voice but admitted that he was the man in the recent clip that went viral on various social media platforms yesterday.

This came after a video of a man that resembled and appeared to be Agus, showed him having a conversation of a sexual nature with another man named "Wahab" which sparked controversy on the internet.

"I deny it (the video), I say that this video has been doctored," he said in a press conference tonight.

The other man, now identified as Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani came forward together with Agus in a press conference earlier.

They said that while the video was authentic, the audio had been manipulated, suggesting that it was done by someone they identified as "Mr. H" before it was circulated.

Wahab, who is also a staff at J-KOM, claimed that he was lured by "Mr H" through promises of positions in the government department if he's willing to frame Agus.

He claimed that he was instructed by "Mr. H" to record a video conversation with Agus to obtain evidence of Agus' involvement in immoral and illicit activities. But he said the original video was only a screen recording that had not included any audio.

"The reality is that the video I recorded is a video without audio," he said.

To further justify his claims, Wahab then said that he believed he was doing the "right thing" and was trying to "clean" the department.

"I admit that I was naive," he nervously said while clutching his hands together in remorse.

Asked on what the actual conversation was about, Agus refused to reveal what it was, saying "I'm not keen on sharing 'cerita dalam katil' (intimate matters)".

"Oh God, I'm not going to share details of our intimate chat.

"It's (like) a father having a casual chat with his son. We were talking about a lot of things... he asked me how I was, about my family and my life."

Agus described his relationship with Wahab like a father towards his son. He added that he sees Wahab just like all the other staff in his department and treats them the same way.

Agus also said that he met someone on Nov 13 who showed him the video before it went viral three days later.

In response after a series of backlash he received over his performance since he was appointed as the head J-KOM in February this year, Agus said that he had planned to resign in a "soft-landing" manner and did not expect that the video would be leaked.

"I said, 'It's okay,' and I will provide the proper notice period, and after that, I will resign. So that's how it happened," Agus said.

Describing this as a stepping stone for his political career, Agus also hinted that he might join politics following what had happened.

"People asked me whether I want to join politics, I was trained by 'Alex Ferguson' and I was born to be 'David Beckham', hopefully I can be that good," he said, in reference to legendary English footballing legends.

Yesterday, a clip of Agus and Wahab having a video call went viral all over social media, just hours after the head of J-KOM confirmed that he had resigned from his position.
