No signs of abuse found on 4 siblings abandoned at Perak Tengah Administrative Complex

IPOH: There were no traces of abuse on four siblings, aged 10 months to 11 years, who were found abandoned at the Perak Tengah Administrative Complex in Kampung Gajah last Thursday.

State Women, Family, Social Welfare and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Datuk Salbiah Mohamed said this was confirmed by the health report by medical experts from Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here.

Salbiah said that the Social Welfare Department was seeking a court order so that the children could be placed in a Children's Shelter Home supervised by the department.

"Based on their health reports, there are no signs of abuse and these four siblings are still in the hospital for further monitoring.

"The department is seeking a court order so that these children can be placed at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Children's Shelter Home in Kuala Kangsar.

"The department also confirmed that no family members have come forward so far, including individuals who claim to be their grandmother as previously reported by the media," she said.

Salbiah said this in a press conference after launching the state-level Family Day Celebration at Dewan Banquet, Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan, today.

On Thursday, in a heart-wrenching incident, a trio of boys aged 11, 3 and a 10-month-old infant, along with their six-year-old sister, were discovered abandoned in front of the Perak Tengah Administrative Complex.

Their grandmother allegedly abandoned them.

Perak Tengah district police chief Superintendent Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said police were investigating the case and also tracking down the siblings' parents or guardians.

Those who have any information about the case can contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Hanif Dzulkifli, at 012-647 7452.
