Tragic accident claims life of a child with Hydrocephalus

KUALA LUMPUR: A differently-abled child (OKU) died, while his mother and elder brother sustained injuries in an accident involving two vehicles on Selar Taman Ilham Road here last night.

Nor Rahil Raihan Mohd Shahrul, 5, who suffered from hydrocephalus (excessive fluid in the brain), was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom (HEBHK). He was the rear passenger of the Naza Ria.

Kluang District Police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the Naza Ria, driven by the victim's mother from Kampung Paya towards Taman Ilham, is suspected to have lost control.

"The Naza Ria collided with a parked Proton Wira and a fence at the accident location. The driver, Aishah Mohd Saleh, 34, and her son, Nor Izzul Islam Mohd Shahrul, 8, who was the front passenger, sustained injuries. Nor Rahil Raihan, who suffered chronic bleeding and internal abdominal injuries, was confirmed dead.

"Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Proton Wira driver is safe," he said, adding that the case is classified under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
