SUNGAI PETANI: A 19-year-old university student died in an accident involving his motorcycle and two cars in Sidam Kiri here today.
The teenager died at the scene in the 2.50pm incident after colliding with a Mercedes Benz, then a Toyota Vios.
Kuala Muda police chief Zaidy Che Hassan said all three vehicles were travelling from Sungai Petani to Kulim.
"Initial investigations suggest that when the Mercedes Benz arrived at the scene, the motorcyclist suddenly turned right at a junction.
"The Mercedes Benz attempted to slow down, but the close distance resulted in a rear-end collision with the motorcycle.
"The rider was thrown to the left side and was hit by the Toyota Vios. The rider sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene," he said today.
Zaidy said the victim's body was sent to Sultan Abdul Hakim Hospital for a post-mortem.
