RM4.2 million Teluk Ketapang-Kuala Ibai cycling route opens next month

KUALA TERENGGANU: Cyclists in Terengganu will not have to wait long to enjoy the nearly-completed bicycle route from Teluk Ketapang to Kuala Ibai set to open in December.

Terengganu Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Development Committee chairman Hishamuddin Abdul Karim said the project is currently in its final stages with a 95 per cent completion rate.

He said the route would be designated as a pioneering initiative, and its success could pave the way for expansion to other locations across the state.

"We are set to officially launch the route in December, evaluating its effectiveness for potential future extensions.

"So far there are no reports of damage, although some cyclists have experienced inconveniences during its use," said Hishamuddin in response to queries during the State Legislative Assembly.

He added as part of preparations for the route's opening, the Kuala Terengganu City Council will still monitor ongoing construction efforts.

The RM4.2 million project is part of the state government's overarching plan to position Terengganu as the 'Land Of Cycles,' fostering a cyclist-friendly environment for residents.
