PM Anwar: Political stability paves the way for economic strengthening [NSTTV]

KUCHING: The focus of the Federal government's administration can now shift entirely to economic recovery following the improved political stability in the country, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He highlighted the significance of this development, adding that stability has been achieved exactly one year after the formation of the unity government.

Anwar said that the unity government now holds a two-thirds majority in Parliament, acknowledging the significant contribution of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to this achievement.

"In the past year, our unity government has revitalised the economy alhamdulillah, I cannot deny the fact that Premier Abang Jo (Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg) and GPS played a crucial role in this," he said.

He made the remarks during his speech at a dinner event for the Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF) 2023 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) yesterday evening.

Also present were his wife, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; Indonesia Vice President , Dr Ma'ruf Amin; as well as Abang Johari and his wife, Puan Sri Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang.

Addressing the GMBF 2023, Anwar highlighted the forum as an ideal platform for exploring and focusing on implementing measures to boost the regional economy.

Meanwhile, Ma'ruf, in his address, called on Islamic nations to establish a vision and mission for developing the global halal industry.

"Focus is needed on increasing joint investments and developing an integrated halal ecosystem in various regions to enhance regional economic growth. I hope that we in the Asean region can take the lead," he said.
