Netizens applaud quick action by government in addressing eMadani application glitches

KUALA LUMPUR: The initial glitches in the eMadani applications have been addressed as more people are sharing their success in getting the e-wallet credit.

They have applauded the government's effort in quickly resolving the matter.

People took to social media to express their relief that issues related to the RM100 e-wallet credit were addressed within 24 hours of its launch.

Facebook user Dil Badruddin shared the positive outcome of his claim of the e-wallet credit via a New Straits Times post recently.

"My husband and I got approved easily. I am guessing it is because of LHDN (Inland Revenue Board). We submitted (our tax assessments) yearly even though there was no tax to pay, but we have submitted our data," she said.

Some people wondered if a housewife is eligible for the eMadani credit due such a person having no tax declarations, but one Facebook related her mother's successful application for the e-wallet credit.

"My 80-year-old mum's request was approved. She never submitted any tax before as she is a housewife," said Facebook user Josephine See.

A former applicant of 1Malaysia People's Aid or BR1M also talked about his application, which was successful.

He said he had missed out on a previous exercise to receive government aid, but this time he wanted to make sure he received the aid.

"Alhamdulillah. I checked this morning and I got the eMadani," said Facebook user Abdul Halim Abdullah.

Instagram user ifirdausazam urged the people to be patient if they faced any hiccups with the e-wallet application process.

"Malaysians cannot relax. Come on, lah. In the first two days, of course the platform's traffic will be jammed. Chill," he said.

Meanwhile, almost a quarter of respondents in a New Straits Times Facebook poll said their eMadani claim was successful.

The poll on X showed that 45 per cent of the respondents' applications went through, while the remaining respondents said they have been unsuccessful.

On Nov 30, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced an allocation of RM1 billion to 10 million Malaysians under the eMadani e-credit initiative.

Malaysians aged 21 and above who were recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), based on records up to Nov 7, qualify for the e-credit.

The other requirements are an annual income of RM100,000 and below based on the Inland Revenue Board records as at July 15, 2023.

Those eligible have until Feb 20 next year to redeem the e-credit through four-wallet providers, namely Maybank's MAE, Petronas' Setel, TNG Digital and ShopeePay.

A total of 6.5 million applications were received for the RM100 eMadani credit as of the latest update.

Bernama had quoted Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan as saying that RM650 million was successfully credited to recipients so far.
