Cabinet reshuffle: Penang pledges support for new administration to reach potential as region's economic powerhouse

GEORGE TOWN: Penang is always ready to cooperate with all ministers to solve the people's issues as well as development issues in the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said, together, the state would achieve the potential as one of the most important economic powers in this region.

"We welcome the cabinet reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in order to further strengthen the administration and work of the unity government which is now a year old.

"With this, the state government hopes that this new cabinet line-up can help the Prime Minister succeed in the Malaysia Madani agenda, especially in improving the national economy and providing the best service to the people as a whole," he said today.

Chow, in representing the entire administrative machinery and the people of Penang, hoped that the appointed line of ministers could work together and help the state reach its potential as one of the most important economic powers in the region.

Yesterday, Anwar announced several changes in the federal cabinet line-up.

He said the decision was made after discussing with leaders of parties in the unity government.

Anwar's restructured cabinet now comprises 31 ministers, supported by 29 deputy ministers. This represents a slight expansion from his initial cabinet of 28 members, with assistance from 27 deputy ministers.
