No counter closure at CIQ, says Johor Menteri Besar

JOHOR BARU: Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has stepped in to pospone the phased counter closure at the Customs, Immigrations and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Bangunan Sultan Iskandar.

Earlier, NST reported that several manual and e-gate counters will be closed in phases for upgrading works.

Since the upgrading works will coincide with school holidays, it is expected to exacerbate the existing congestion.

However, the menteri besar has stepped in, and instructed to ensure that the upgrading works be postponed.

He took to his Facebook page with a simple post that read- "I have requested that these works be postponed until the end of the school holidays."

His post has received about 400 likes and shares, since it was posted an hour ago, at print time.
