Flood situation in Kelantan improves, only 57 victims remain at two relief centres

KOTA BARU: The flood situation in Kelantan has improved slightly today with only 57 victims being evacuated today.

The 57, from 14 families, are now taking shelter at two relief centres in Pasir Puteh and Rantau Panjang.

A total of 30 are taking shelter at SK Wakaf Raja while the other 27 are at SK Tok Deh.

The figure was recorded as of 3.45pm.

A lesser volume of rain resulted in only the Golok river in Rantau Panjang measuring above its danger mark.

As of 3.45pm, the Golok river was recorded at 9.06m which is 0.06m above its danger level of 9m.

Three more rivers - the Kelantan river in Kuala Krai and the Machang and Semerak rivers in Bachok were recorded above their alert levels.

The other main rivers in Kelantan measured below the alert marks.

Several low-lying areas in Rantau Panjang were submerged by floodwaters after the Golok river breached its bank.
