Four men stuck in tree from rising floodwaters rescued

GUA MUSANG: Four men, including two Myanmar nationals, faced anxious moments here as they were trapped in a tree for over four hours when their residence was inundated with flood water earlier this morning.

The victims, two elderly individuals aged 69 and two male foreign workers from Myanmar, couldn't escape to higher ground before being rescued at 5am.

Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Department Nor Azizi Che Noh, said they received the call around 7.31am and reached the location by 8.42am.

He mentioned that it took them nearly 45 minutes to assist, evacuate, and bring the individuals to a safer place.

"It is understood that they had been on the Rambai tree for about four hours before we arrived at the scene. While on the tree, they managed to contact their employer to inform them about the incident.

"As soon as we received the call, we rushed to the location using three four-wheel-drive vehicles and a rescue boat led by myself.

"We successfully navigated the river current before bringing the victims down from the tree to a safe location," he said when contacted here today.

According to him, the early morning incident occurred in an area near a vegetable farm close to Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing in Pos Blau.

"The flood that occurred on the road also affected the vegetable farm where the victims were working, and the incident caused the road to be impassable from both directions.

"My advice to all residents, especially those living near rivers, is to always be vigilant and follow instructions from authorities," he added.
