Picket for Palestine: 'We'll try our best to remain here for six days'

KUALA LUMPUR: Participants of the 'Piket Demi Palestin' (Picket for Palestine) demonstration erected tents near the United States embassy in Jalan Tun Razak.

This was after they were told by the police not to set up any tents as part of their six-day protest.

Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi, who is part of the Solidariti Palestin secretariat, said that they will do their utmost to remain at the location for these six days.

"We are willing to take the risk if the police take action against the participants.

"We are here peacefully and will remain peaceful throughout the program. If the police decide to take action against the participants, it is up to them.

"But we will condemn them if they do so," said Amir.

Around 100 people had marched from Menara TH Tun Razak to the US Embassy as part of the protest last night.

The protest was held as a sign of solidarity with Palestine and in response to the US government's veto of the United Nations' efforts to push for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Participants of the gathering were seen holding placards such as "US Embassy, Nest For Terrorists" and others as well as chanting "Free Palestine" prior to the march.
