Sarawak KPDN announces additional diesel supply in the state

KUCHING: Sarawak has received the additional diesel supply, as announced by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali two days ago.

The Sarawak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN)'s ministry chief enforcement officer Peter J. Berinus Agang, said the additional diesel supply has been distributed across the entirety of the state.

However, he refrained from disclosing the exact quantity of the additional diesel as his staff are still gathering accurate information in the field.

"Our officers (KPDN Sarawak) are confirming that fuel stations have received supplies according to the actual quantities, but we're cautious about prematurely sharing information to the media until all data is aligned due to logistical movements spanning the entire Sarawak region," he said in response to media queries via the Whatsapp application today.

Last Wednesday, Armizan mentioned that Petronas Dagangan Bhd is mobilising the additional diesel supply to Sarawak following disruptions in fuel supply at Petronas-owned stations in the state.

He added that Petronas was required to furnish a list of petrol stations involved in the distribution of the additional supply for comprehensive monitoring purposes.

Armizan added that while their team is actively resolving the issue to meet consumer needs in affected areas, Petronas and the respective oil companies are urged to submit comprehensive reports and detailed documents regarding the root cause of the supply disruption.

Meanwhile, checks at several Petronas petrol stations in the city today revealed no supply issues.

Heavy vehicles using diesel were observed refuelling as usual, and there were no long queues of vehicles engaging in panic buying.

The diesel supply issue in Sarawak has been ongoing for several days, causing concern among vehicle owners reliant on this fuel type, particularly during the festive holiday travel period.
