Flood update: Terengganu sees improvement, only three districts remain affected

KUALA TERENGGANU: The flood situation in Terengganu is gradually improving, and as of 8 am today, only three districts are affected compared to five districts yesterday.

According to the report from the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, a total of 735 residents from 199 families are still in 13 temporary evacuation centres in Marang, Dungun, and Kuala Nerus.

In Dungun, 715 victims from 195 affected families are taking shelter in 11 relief centres, while in Marang, 14 victims from three families are in one relief centre.

In Kuala Nerus, a family of six is seeking refuge at the Multipurpose Hall of Taman Perumahan Wakaf Tengah (residential area) in Kuala Nerus.

Meanwhile, six rivers have exceeded the danger level, while five rivers have surpassed the alert level.

According to the Drainage and Irrigation Department's official website on the floods, Public InfoBanjir, one river has exceeded the danger level, namely Sungai Dungun at Kampung Pasir Raja, with a water level of 39.15m compared to the danger level of 38.7m.

Another river has exceeded the alert level, namely Sungai Dungun at Jerangau Bridge, with a water level of 12.25m compared to the alert level of 11.5m.
