Sabah govt to focus on state development until term ends on Sept 2025, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government and its cabinet ministers will use the remaining two years to focus on realising the aspiration of the people.

State Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the state government has until September 2025 before its term ends.

"As I had emphasised during the general convention of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah in November last year, our determination is clear, which is to prioritise development, apart from being with the government (at the federal level).

"There was a 'Dubai Move'. But for us, the unity government that exists today is functioning effectively and thus needs to be fully supported for the wellbeing of the people and the continuous economic development.

"Continuous politicking will not benefit anyone and will only harm the people," he said during a dinner with the Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Selangor government officials at the Sabah International Convention Centre here last night.

Hajiji also shared achievements of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government, PH Plus, over the three years of administering the state of Sabah.

"In two consecutive years, Sabah has recorded very positive state revenue and collection growth. State revenue collection was RM5.449 billion in 2021 and RM6.96 billion in 2022, making history as the highest state revenue collection since independence.

"Moreover, Sabah also recorded the highest trade figures at RM118.1 billion in 2022, and this figure is expected to continue increasing.

"Most notably, the total investment, both domestic and foreign, now exceeds RM33 billion, indicating that the efforts undertaken by the State Government three years ago to revive the state's economy after being severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic have been successful and yielded very good results."
