Sarawak approves RM20mil for new mini stadium in Tanjung Manis

BELAWAI: A new sporting development is set to emerge in Tanjung Manis after the Sarawak government approved an RM20 million allocation for the construction of a mini stadium, complete with a range of facilities, including an athletics track.

Urban Development and Resources Deputy Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh announced this during an appreciation ceremony at SMK Belawai on Jan 25, Unit Komunikasi Awam Sarawan (UKAS) reported.

"We have approved an allocation of RM20 million. I noticed students running on grass, and so the state government has approved 20 million for the development of a mini-stadium.

"Especially since there is a lack of such sports facilities here, particularly an athletics track. The funds from Rajang Delta Development Agencies (RADDA) will be used to develop this in Tanjung Manis," Len, who is also Tegas Digital Village and Digital Innovation Hub chairman, was quoted as saying.

The project is envisioned to provide convenience and promote sports activities for the schools and the wider community in the Tanjung Manis area.

It is expected to take three to four years to complete, and the residents are urged to be patient until the facility is ready for use.

Len also discussed the paramount importance of school attendance as the first step towards academic excellence, emphasising that students attend school not only to learn but to be educated as heirs to the nation, becoming knowledgeable and ethically sound human capital.

"Students not only come to school to learn but also to be educated as heirs to the country to become knowledgeable and morally upright individuals.

"Today, we can see that the role of education has clearly changed from its traditional function.

"Therefore, we need to be prepared to make changes in the education system through policy and continuous strategies, especially when the country is moving towards the Industrial Revolution 4.0," he added.
