Kelantan receives 5 more lorries, 3 boats and helicopter for its rescue operation

KOTA BARU: Kelantan has received five lorries, three boats and a helicopter to assist in the rescue operations following the third wave of floods that struck the state.

State Fire and Rescue Department director says the boats were received yesterday while the helicopter arrived today.

He added that the additional assets were from Perak, Selangor and the Fire Rescue Academy in Wakaf Tapai.

"As the flood situation in the state has worsened, we need additional assets to help us in the rescue work.

"Praise be to God, we have received more lorries and boats yesterday and today, a helicopter will arrive in Kelantan to help in the rescue operation," he said.

Asked about the rescue operation, he said so far, it had gone smoothly.

The department's director-general Datuk Seri Abdul Wahab Mat Yasin recently said as the flood situation in the East Coast intensifies, the department had escalated its rescue efforts by deploying three helicopters.

He added that one helicopter would be deployed for Kelantan, with the remaining two on standby for deployment to Terengganu if necessary.

He said the helicopters would serve multiple purposes, including rescuing stranded flood victims, transporting patients in need of hospital care and delivering food supplies to those isolated by the floodwaters.
