PM's political secretary lodges police report on Dubai Move

PUTRAJAYA: The prime minister's senior political secretary Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has lodged a report urging the police to investigate the purported "Dubai Move."

The report was made by Shamsul himself at the Putrajaya district police headquarters at 2.43pm here, today.

"The Dubai Move is clearly something irresponsible which not only interferes with the Parliamentary democratic system, but is also in vain because the anti party hopping law has been approved, preventing any attempt to topple the Prime Minister and the government in the middle of the term," he said in a press conference today.

Shamsul said the Dubai Move was a strategy started by several irresponsible members of Parliament and opposition leaders.

Their attempt, he added, also caused anxiety and controversy and political instability, and therefore must be stopped.

"I have asked the police to investigate this movement which is clearly against Section 124B and 124C of the Penal Code.

"The law will punish those who are still adamant," he added.

Other police reports had also been made in police stations in Johor,Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Pahang, Perlis, Penang, Kedah, Sabah and Sarawak.

Last December, Community Communications Department deputy director Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed that opposition leaders and government MPs had met in Dubai to discuss overthrowing the government.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor last Wednesday said the move was engineered based on loopholes in the Anti-Hopping Law used by Anwar's government to woo the support of five lawmakers from Perikatan Nasional.
