Ramenya unveils authentic Japanese culinary experience in Kota Kinabalu

Japanese cuisine enthusiasts in Sabah can now embark on a culinary journey through the flavours of Japan, particularly the art of ramen, at the newly established Ramenya. Owned by the dynamic duo, Richie and Roderic, this Sabah-born venture is making waves in Kota Kinabalu's gastronomic scene, offering a diverse menu inspired by Japanese street food.

The grand opening of Ramenya, held at Imago Shopping Mall, marked not only the introduction of an exciting dining destination but also the initiation of a new trend in Sabah's culinary landscape.

Sabah Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe graced the event, alongside 44 finalists from Miss Tourism International 2023 and Tan Sri Danny Ooi, the founder of the Malaysia Book of Records.

Richie and Roderic, with their passion for Japanese cuisine and more than a decade of experience in the F&B industry, are committed to setting a benchmark in delivering an authentic Japanese dining experience.

Speaking about the restaurant's concept, Richie shared, "I want people to dine in an atmosphere that evokes an experience like eating street food in Japan."

Ramenya, which translates to the "house of noodles," embodies the essence of its name by offering a diverse range of noodle-based dishes. The restaurant is meticulous about maintaining cultural sensitivity, ensuring that the menu caters to local tastes.

The signature dish, Torikotsu broth ramen, stands out, featuring a rich chicken bone broth. In addition to beef, vegetarian, and niboshi (anchovy) broths, the menu extends to include delectable options like fried chicken, Japanese hanbaga, sukiyaki, and more.

Richie emphasised the commitment to inclusivity by stating, "The restaurant does not serve pork or have alcohol," reflecting an awareness of diverse dietary preferences and cultural considerations.

Ramenya's culinary offerings go beyond ramen, encompassing a delightful array of Japanese street food. From gyoza and fried oyster meat to takoyaki, tempura prawn, calamari, and more, the menu promises a feast for the senses.

As Sabahans embrace the arrival of Ramenya, the restaurant stands poised to become a haven for Japanese food enthusiasts, offering an immersive experience that transports diners to the bustling streets of Japan.

With a dedication to professionalism, authenticity, and a culinary journey that caters to local palates, Ramenya is set to make a lasting impression on Kota Kinabalu's vibrant food scene.
