Pahang seeking additional allocation from Federal govt for damaged roads and water woes

KUANTAN: The Pahang government has requested additional allocations to carry out repair works on damaged roads and resolve the water-related problems across the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said both issues were raised during his meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya yesterday.

"I was joined by several senior officers including Pahang Public Works Department director (Datuk Hafizah Zakaria) and Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad chief executive officer (Datuk Saiful Zaini Mohd Bokhari). Several applications on both issues were raised.

"Damaged roads, especially federal routes and water supply in both towns, and rural areas are major issues which have to be given priority in Pahang. We have requested for additional allocations from the Federal government to help overcome both the matters," he told reporters after a gathering with civil servants at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee hall here today.

Yesterday, Wan Rosdy posted several images taken during his meeting with Anwar on Facebook.

When asked if their wish for additional funds will be granted, Wan Rosdy was optimistic, saying Anwar will certainly give serious consideration towards the matters which had been raised.

"Insya-Allah (God Willing), he will look into the allocation as this is for the benefit of all the people and not certain individuals. On our side, we will do the necessary follow-ups and we hope for a favourable outcome (additional funds) soon," he said.

Meanwhile, in his speech earlier, Wan Rosdy said last year, the Pahang government collected RM1.306 billion in revenue surpassing the RM1.28 billion collected in 2022.

"This is a huge achievement as we successfully recorded collections over the RM1 billion mark for two consecutive years. This year we have targeted a revenue collection of RM1.137 billion and I am confident we will be able to achieve it," he said.
