5-year-old girl dies after being impaled by clothesline pole

KUALA LUMPUR: A 5-year-old girl died after she Is believed to have been impaled by a clothesline pole in her neck while playing at home at an apartment complex near Batu Caves on Saturday.

The girl was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Tunku Azizah Hospital (HTA).

The girl was found unconscious and bloodied about 2.30pm by her mother after the latter was informed of the incident by her other child.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said investigations revealed that the victim was playing with the clothesline pole inside the house.

"While playing, the victim (was accidentally) impaled by the clothesline pole. She was brought to a nearby clinic before being sent to HTA, where she was pronounced dead," he said when contacted by Harian Metro.

The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect
