Taiping Lake Gardens illuminated by sustainable solar lighting

TAIPING: The Taiping Municipal Council has recently taken a significant step towards sustainability and public safety with the installation of solar-powered LED lights along the Taiping Lake Gardens' pedestrian pathways.

This initiative introduced eco-friendly illumination to one of the region's most frequented recreational spaces, aligning with broader environmental goals.

The project saw the installation of 29 solar LED lights, spanning a 700-metre stretch of the gardens, enhancing the visitor experience after dusk.

The effort was a collaborative one, with contributions from various parties.

These solar fixtures require a charging period of four to six hours and can provide up to 12 hours of light, ensuring pathways are safely lit throughout the evening and night.

The project's benefits extend beyond enhanced safety; it also aligns with the principles of Perak Sejahtera 2030 for sustainable resource use and supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to promote well-being for all ages.

By converting to solar energy, the council is taking measurable steps towards transforming Taiping into a Low Carbon City by 2030.

This forward-thinking approach underpins the council's dedication to sustainable development, reducing the carbon footprint, and adopting renewable energy, setting a precedent for future environmental projects in the region.
