Najib's daughter says 'false hope is painful'

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's daughter Nooryana Najwa has sent a cryptic message on social media today, alluding to being given false hope of a full pardon.

In a photo of her and her father posted on Instagram, Nooryana said: "False hope.. is worse than despair."

This came after her previous post that she was disappointed her father was not given a full pardon and released with immediate effect.

She insisted that her father is innocent.

Earlier today, the Pardon's Board has issued a statement that they have halved Najib's prison sentence from 12 to six years and reduced his fine from RM210 million to RM50 million.

Najib is currently serving a 12-year jail term since Aug last year after he was found guilty of one count of abuse of power with regard to Retirement Fund Inc's (KWAP) RM4 billion loan to SRC International Sdn Bhd, as well as three counts each of criminal breach of trust and abuse of power involving RM42 million of SRC funds.

SRC is a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
