Firefighters assist medical team to lift 160kg man in Tuaran

TUARAN: Health personnel in Tuaran here had sought assistance from the fire department to lift a man weighing 160 kilogrammes to receive medical aid.

The man, who was unconscious, was believed to be have  been experiencing breathing difficulties at Kampung Kota here this morning.

In the 5.55am incident, the 37-year-old man involved was taken out of his house to be transported to Tuaran Hospital for further treatment.

District Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohamad Nor Amit said they received an emergency call from the health department at 5.58am for assistance in lifting the victim.

He said seven members, including an officer, rushed to the location with a fire engine and a utility vehicle from the Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) Unit.

"Upon arriving at the scene, the firefighters found an unconscious man receiving emergency heart and respiratory assistance or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from the health personnel.

"The firefighting team then assisted in lifting the victim using a stretcher to be taken into an ambulance and transported to the nearby hospital," he said when contacted.

The operation was concluded at 6.30 am.
