IGP takes to the skies to survey Chinese New Year traffic

KUALA LUMPUR: The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, took to the skies this evening to survey the traffic flow and road conditions aheads of the Chinese New Year celebration.

Utilising the Agusta Westland (AW) 139 helicopter from the Royal Malaysia Police Air Operations Force, Superintendent Thiyagarajan Mariappan piloted the aircraft, supported by Assistant Superintendent Muhammad Amir Isa, alongside Air Observers SM Luqman Aminuddin and Sergeant Mohamad Syaufiq Hamdan.

The aerial reconnaissance is part of the Op Selamat 21, which covered the Central Zone, focusing on major highways in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, including key exits such as the Gombak Toll Plaza, Jalan Duta Toll Plaza, and Sungai Besi Toll Plaza.

As of 5.00pm, traffic on these routes remain smooth. However, anticipations suggested a surge in traffic later in the evening as people embarked on journeys back to their hometowns for the impending Chinese New Year festivities.

Razarudin arrived at the Peninsula Air Operations Force Base around 2.30pm, and was welcomed by Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director CP Dato' Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri and Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director CP Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad.
