Kelantan JIPs will conduct surprise checks at police station and lock-ups

KOTA BARU: The state police Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) will conduct surprise checks at any police station, lock-up and sensitive places to detect weaknesses in their supervision.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the heads of departments at the state contingent police headquarters as well as all units under them were also instructed to go on the ground to inspect the compliance of standard operating procedures (SOP).

"The JIPS teams have been told to conduct surprise inspections at stations, lock-ups and sensitive places to see if there are any weaknesses.

"If there is a weakness that we feel we can handle, we will advise them before it gets worse," he told reporters today.

However, he said, so far no significant weaknesses, especially in terms of compliance, have been recorded involving officers and policemen from the state.

On Feb 11, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain continued his surprise visits to the nation's district police headquarters and stations to inspect their daily operations.

This time, the nation's top police officer conducted a surprise check at the Nilai police headquarters command centre (DCC) as a followup to his prior visit to the Kajang DCC on Feb 10.

Using his callsign "Aman Satu", Razarudin again radioed in to the patrolmen across the districts on their whereabouts and movements.

He also extended words of advice and encouragement to the patrolmen on duty.
